A private boat transfer from St Barth to St Martin is the fastest, most comfortable way to move between the two islands. The crossing from Gustavia harbor (SBH) to Cole Bay or Simpson Bay (SXM) runs about 40 minutes on a private speedboat. Roughly half the duration of the public ferry between Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, and without the fixed schedule, the other passengers, or the wait at the terminal. You board when you're ready. You dock exactly where you want.
The two islands sit 14 nautical miles apart across the Anguilla Channel. On a private speedboat the crossing is direct, comfortable in most conditions, and timed entirely around you. We handle every detail: villa pickup, dockside boarding, fuel, captain, crew, and ground transport on the St Martin side. See the fleet for boat-by-boat specs.
The return private boat transfer from St Martin to St Barth works the same way. We pick you up at our Cole Bay slip on the Dutch side, at the Simpson Bay dock, or at the Marigot ferry terminal on the French side. You're back in Gustavia about 40 minutes later. Most of our clients book both legs at the same time to guarantee the boat on their schedule and to keep one captain across the day.
Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is the regional hub for the French West Indies, and most travelers to St Barth connect through it. Instead of waiting for the next small-plane hop or the public shuttle to the ferry, our door-to-dock service meets you in SXM arrivals with a Mercedes van or Chevrolet Suburban, drives you 10 minutes to our dock at 16 Welfare Rd in Cole Bay (Dutch side), and runs you direct to Gustavia by private speedboat. Total time from landing in SXM to your St Barth villa is usually under 90 minutes. Faster than waiting for a connecting flight, with no risk of weight or weather cancellations.
Gustavia is the only port of entry on Saint-Barthélemy and the dock of departure for every private St Barth boat transfer we run. The harbor sits on the west coast of the island, a few minutes from any villa or hotel. On the St Martin side, the most common arrival points are Cole Bay (closest to SXM airport) and Simpson Bay. The Marigot ferry terminal on the French side is also possible if your destination is on the French half of the island. Tell us your drop-off and we'll route the boat there.
The public ferry between St Barth and St Martin runs a fixed schedule, typically two or three departures per day. It takes about 80 minutes each way, seats 100+ passengers, and sells out regularly in high season. A private boat transfer between SBH and SXM departs on your timing, runs the crossing in roughly half the time, and carries only your group. For families with young children, late flight arrivals at SXM, anyone moving luggage, or guests heading directly to a villa rather than a public dock, the difference is significant.
Every St Barth to St Martin transfer includes door-to-dock ground transport coordinated through our partner drivers in Mercedes vans and Chevrolet Suburbans. In St Barth, the van picks you up at your villa, hotel or Gustavia residence and drops at the harbor minutes before boarding. In St Martin, we meet you in arrivals at Princess Juliana airport or at your hotel and drive directly to the dock. The driver stays in contact with the captain so the boat is ready when the van pulls up. No standing around with luggage in the sun.
From either island we run private boat transfers to Anguilla. About 25 minutes from St Martin and a little over an hour from St Barth direct. Popular destinations include Blowing Point, Sandy Ground for a beach day, Scilly Cay for lunch on a private cay, and Shoal Bay for the sand. Same-day round trips between St Barth and Anguilla are doable, and groups often combine a St Barth boat transfer with a stop in St Martin or Anguilla on the same day.
The Caribbean high season for private boat transfers runs from mid-December through April. Christmas, New Year, Presidents' Week and Easter book up fastest. 48 hours of lead time is the minimum we'd recommend during those weeks. Off-season crossings (May to mid-December) are quieter, often confirmable same-day, and the seas are typically calmer. If conditions on the day of crossing aren't safe, the captain reschedules at no charge or refunds in full. We don't put guests on the water in weather that ruins the trip.
WhatsApp is the fastest way to get a firm quote on a private boat transfer between Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin. Send us a message with your dates, group size, and pickup and drop-off points. We confirm within a couple of hours, send a deposit link, and lock the boat. Balance is paid on the day of the crossing. See every route we run (one-way, round trip, airport connection, Anguilla), or jump straight to the FAQ for crossing times, dock locations and what to bring on board.
